6 Ways to Become Successful
Here are a few tips that will help you become successful,
these are the things I did or continue to do anyways.
1. Quit blowing your money on stupid things. If you want to
achieve any goal, you must first establish a budget, and only buy the things
you actually need so you can save the rest for whatever your future entails.
Even if you’re not sure what you’re saving for, you should still do it, because
one day it will come to you and you’ll be ready. There have been periods in my life where my entire wardrobe fit in a single backpack, and I wiped my ass with newspaper because my focus was not on the "here and now", it was on where I wanted to be.
2. Stay out of the bar. Being the popular one at the bar is
like being popular in high school- it doesn’t mean shit in the real world.
People who create their own success don’t drink their lives away. Success is
mind, body, and focus. It’s hard to focus when you’re drunk or hungover all the
time, and anyone who says they can operate like that is just lying to
themselves.
3. Make good choices, or at least do your best to not do blatantly
stupid things. We all make mistakes, but I’ve noticed that there is a good
portion of the population that continues to make the same ones repeatedly, or ignore the obvious signs of a poor choice. Think things through before you do them, and do your research when you’re
unsure about which path to take. Don’t ask people for advice that only have an opinion, not an educated answer- that would be like asking a grocery bagger for legal advice. And don't ask someone for advice just because their older than you either, just because someone has a few years on you doesn't always make them wiser. Talk to people who are educated, specifically ones that are in the field you are trying to break into. Scour the internet for answers too, but don’t base
your sole opinion off of one book, blog, or news source- proper research is
extensive.
4. If you know what your goal is, create a yearlong plan,
and then break that up into quarters. One big goal doesn’t just magically
manifest itself; it takes a series of small steps to accomplish anything
worthwhile. Don’t be a quitter either. Failure is inevitable, and you will fail
many times before you start to gain momentum so take each one in stride, learn
from your mistakes, and carry on. Eventually, you will succeed as long as you
are putting in the work, and educating yourself in all aspects of your
endeavors.
5. Focus on what’s best for you and your goals- everything
else is secondary. I know that may sound selfish, but it’s like when you’re on
an airplane and the oxygen masks fall from the overhead compartments- you are
instructed to put yours on first before assisting others.
6. Don’t be a dick. No matter how many steps you climb on the social ladder it is important to remain humble. Besides, people who go screaming from the mountaintops about all the things they’ve accomplished are viewed as egotistical morons by others. No one likes a bragging idiot.
